Adobe Creative Suite vs. Final Cut Studio
When it comes to a complete suite of multimedia editing, the two industry leaders are Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Studio. Adobe CS is available on both Mac and PC, and Final Cut Studio is only available on Mac.
Since I use both Mac and PC, I'm partial to Adobe because of the similar functionality. I used Final Cut Studio for a little bit, but I never really put enough time in it to give a full evaluation. I didn't bother because I'm just so comfortable with Adobe CS5 in general.
Also, there are rumors of Microsoft buying Adobe, so this debate could get interesting in the next year if this is indeed true.
Which one do you have experience with? What's your preference?

I haven't tried either, because I never have the need to do any multimedia editing.
yea, i always preferred adobe. i'm probably a little biased though, i started video editing with adobe, so...
I like Adobe, though I don't use it professionally.
Haven't used either however I've used many other Adobe products and I am pretty happy with them.
i think i would go with the apple product lol
I've always used Adobe, from the time of college to now, on both Mac and PC platforms, so I know how you feel.
I want to try Final Cut and see what it has to offer, but i only have PC
Final Cut Studio because I'm using Mac.
i used final cut before in a media class but since before that I have been using adobe almost all the time, I just liked Adobe and didnt bother trying to learn Final cut. I think Final Cut is good though from what I have seen but I still prefer Adobe bro
non-mac user...I'll just shoot for adobe.
I haven't tried either, though I have older Creative Suites from Adobe and have been very happy with them.
i personally prefer final cut. but i've only used it at my friend's.
Nice post
lol ive never used either. was hoping for you tell me which one was better. this is important! i want to take music production in college
I doubt a Microsoft acquisition of adobe would cause any major changes. You can use itunes on windows, if you're so inclined, and office for mac.
uhmm never used final cut before
And Im really loving CS5. photoshop new features are great.
good as always!
great info! thanks for sharing!!
really the only things i ever used were apple programs in digital graphics, i found them pretty difficult to use but easy to master after some guidance
of course i peerfer adaobe but damn are teh gettign bloated. ther is no reason pdf reader shoudl eb as big as it is
I've on experience with adobe - I liked it for the most part. Having only just bought my first mac a few months back I've never had the opportunity to try Final Cut, but if I ever need to upgrade my software I'll probably give that a try.
haven't tried either of that. the only adobe program i'm using is photoshop.
thx for information
;D
Adobeeee :D It's all ive ever used..I dont think my opinion is very biased at all :P haha
En generale, I think I go for Adobe's stuff. Granted, I've never used either one, so I can't give anything definitive like those who have used one or both.
i like this :)
i have experience with both of them and honestly, i prefer Adobe.
I'm also quite comfortable with Adobe, probably because I pretty much never use Mac.
i love adobe products.
Personally I don't have experience with either.
This --> "I didn't bother because I'm just so comfortable with Adobe CS5 in general."
I don't have experience with either, but I just wanted to pop in and say I love the blog, very well done and nice looking, I'm new to the site myself, but you've got my follow! :D
i use gimp, but i would have to go with adobe. if microsoft does buy it GG, it's gonna be patchy beyond comprehension
Hmm thats tough, I have honestly never used final cut. No mac :( But I do love the other one.
good to see this site grow!
I use adobe and I really like it.
Final cut is awesome..although I haven't used much of the other.
If MS buys adobe, it will be their ruin. As for FCS, I hate it. FCP is a nightmare and is not even nearly as intuitive as the Adobe products, so I'll act on a hunch that FCS is probably along those same lines - complicated and unintuitive. I definitely prefer CS5
I only used Adobe and I got the feeling that it's all I'll ever need.
Thanks for the review. I really hope that Microsoft does not buy adobe.
I have worked with both, You'll find most professionals movie/tv editors use Final cut. I'm not that sure why thought, because I've always found Adobe just as good and then some. Both usable, I always tend to go Adobe. good post.
I havent used either but I cant remember the name of the program I was using when I big into youtube
this blog awesome!!!
I am still just a fan of MS Paint lol.
fcp for video - cs5 for images and graphics
Adobe hands down :D
adobe has angered me in the past so Id try the other
I've only used Adobe, but I would be interested in comparing the two.
Also, I just posted about how Google Analytics can be added to your blog in order to track trends and increase blog profitability.
Check it out in the post titled I See You!
See you real soon.
i have always supported adobe, i love dreamweaver and photoshop. It would take alot to get me to part with them.
adobe ftw
I don't know how to draw! hehe so I would not know which one to use.
Mesty =)
i dunno never worked with the whole creative suite
but adobe cs5 rocks
I can't say that I've ever used either, but I hope Microsoft does buy Adobe. Maybe then youtube videos won't take 5 hours to buffer after they release a patch.
i will go with adobe because is for everyone
98% of my experience is with CS, the other 2% is with Final Cut. I just got used to CS and stuck with it. Plus, as you mentioned, it can be used on both of my systems.
have minor experience with cs4 but the only thing i dont like is how unlightweight cs5 is... and i dont own a mac nor do i care to try final cut studio. adobe creative suite does what i need it to do
i find adobe better
whens the next post?? :D
Being a PC guy myself, I have never heard of Final Cut Studio. I have though, used the crap out of Adobe products and have always been impressed but slightly overwhelmed. If Final Cut Studio can simplify the process, I would prefer to use it.
Perfect post!
Supportin;)
Adobe all the way, kinda biased though, only macs I've ever used were in school.
ADOBE ALL THE WAY!
I really like Adobe Creative Suite, but I've never used Final Cut Studio. I'd think Adobe would make the better product for me, as Apple Software seems to be aimed towards ease of use, rather than providing useful tools.
Love Photoshop, love final cut pro. haven't had experience with much other stuff.
adobe for me :)
I use paint lol, I'd live to get adobe though.
Cool stuff, just started a new blog,
I'm reviewing blogs in the order comments are received!
http://9kblogsreviewed.blogspot.com/
I've always stuck with my PCs, never tried a Mac before. But of course, since I have a PC I'm going to go with Adobe, but if I had a Mac, I'd use Final Cut.
i really hope Microsoft doesnt buy out Adobe
I'm used to using Adobe stuff, so I'm not sure.
And I am also a Mac and PC user. :D
i have never used any of these i never had a reason to
This is great!
Adobe all the way.
clearly, macs were made for this kind of program, and are superior in this respect. however, windows is a better option for so many other things.
I've only use Adobe, and I love Adobe. I am interested in trying Final Cut though.
Adobe is far better in my opinion, it might not be as easy as all the derp derp mac products, but it can accomplish more if done right.
I have only ever used Adobe for anything really. Though again i do sometimes dabble in some of the free software out there like gimp.
I've only had experiences with CS (im a PC)
havent tried any of them, but if I had a chose I'll deffo go for adobe
this blog awesome!!!
I prefer Adobe because they have better customer service.
both awesome, just final cut is mactastic.. nah in all seriousness I am not sure of the actual differences between them; but i'm sure users of both of them have their preferences and know the diffs :P just kinda what you've grown up using or doing stuff first on really.. kinda sticks in the mind like that, habbit, comfort and some people are just scared to change from what they are familiar with.
I have more experience with Adobe, thanks to school.
adobe of course.
I'm a fan of Adobe. I've never used the other thing, but Adobe just trumps all.
Yea, it's expensive, but if this is your line of work, then it's definitely worth it.
Or, you could torrent it, but that's shady.
Yeah def. gives the razors a try. Once you try them, you'll never go back.
i predict bad things if microsoft buys adobe
i normaly use adobe.. i dont know about final cut....
I actually prefer Sony Vegas :0
Adobe for the win
I don't have a mac.
i don't have a mac either:(
Adobe.... but I am a Windows fag.
Only ever used Final Cut Pro, and I dig it for sure..
