Is Microsoft going to buy Adobe?

There have been rumors around Microsoft possibly buying Adobe.  If this happens, how will this affect Adobe CS5's offering on the Mac?

Since Adobe released it's Creative Suite for the Mac, it has long been considered (along with Final Cut Studio) to be the premier professional editing suite for media.  Microsoft would be foolish to not cater to the Mac market.  Adobe Creative Suite 5 works flawlessly on OSX, and I find it to be just as stable as the offering for Windows 7.

Do you think Microsoft will really buy Adobe?

cant see this happening tbh..

Well if mic buy adobe get repair! :D

Probably, If they do, I wonder how this will pan out on the flash not being on the iphone deal.

Innovations said...

i mean adobe is an amazing company and microsoft is always looking to expand, especially when it means getting into more liberal style things (music, computer art) since thats Apple's thing right now.

PlanetBen said...

It would be intersesting. Microsoft Photoshop?
What would happen with Silverlight vs Flash?

dmayne said...

possibly wouldn't necessarily be a bad investment

Allen said...

Its possible they will. I could care less about macs.

sfw babes said...

would'nt be surprised

crose0689 said...

i hate adobe it never loads right on my computer :(

mapaiscool said...

yeah. these rumors actually bumped up Adobe's stock price. I traded Adobe for some nice profit.

Lepoidim said...

I hope they don't tbh.

They own too much of the industry all ready

Dan said...

I hope they do, Apple is already getting people to hate Adobe (flash), so this would really put the nail in the coffin for some people.

Purchase wouldn't make much sense to me, what market does this product enhance for them? They still might in which case they would basically keep pumping out the same material but with all the security problems that adobe is famous for having, why would MS want to add that to their poor history?

T.dot said...

i think it would be a great move by microsoft

Longkid said...

omg wow I need this

Astra said...

Well, im not sure. But I think that it will not effect Mac that much because there is MSOffice and other windows products available for macs as well

Donkote said...

it would really be cool if they did, but i don't think that they will. with macs being the preferred choice for media editing it would be a really bad idea for adobe to become microsoft excluse

David Davidson said...

I don't see why not. All large companies want to take in as many smaller successful companies as they can.

Sebastian said...

Itd be a wise move.

Spanky said...

I think they'll still release it on MAC, They did just release their own office programs on it. There's a possibility they could buy adobe.

Liv said...

they'll probably try

Anonymous said...

i hope not or iphones will never get flash lol

NarwhalMinded said...

I wouldn't put it past them!

I think google will buy Adobe lol

Dbankai said...

if they do i'm sure it will be a horrible change for adobe

Dennis said...

hmmm well if Microsoft buys it will we have purchase it ?

Unlogic said...

I think this wouldn't change adobe that much... microsoft is not foolish to stop supporting macs because they are most of the market when it comes to adobe suite !

Gurney said...

If they do i don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue to cater to mac users. It would be very foolish not to.

kokojesta said...

i have no expertise in the matter but i would say if they did it would be monumental for microsoft

Everything is acquiring everything else, kind of feels like capitalism is like that game Spore.

I don't know, but I wish those software were free, lol.

That would be interesting, although maybe not desirable

Kartoffeln said...

It's a good program, reliable and known everywhere, so maybe it's not a bad idea.

Seion said...

I think Windows is already enjoying having the entire 64-bit program share from Adobe, right?

honkhonkpt said...

Eh, I don't think they'll buy Adobe. Microsoft probably doesn't want to deal with anything that Apple's involved with.

Anonymous said...

microsoft is goin to buy everything :S

interesting post. thanks

Joel C Anatoli said...

I hope not.. i would be devestated.. imagine photoshop being fucked up every second release..

HondaX said...

yes...is going to buy

Ben Dover said...

Since Microsoft already released Microsoft Office for Mac then they're probably able to do the same with CS5. I think they're ready

Thomasheen said...

It could happen since Apple are being such dicks towards Adobe

level85nerd said...

No, i think not.

anon1337 said...

Would be idea I think, soon Microsoft will own it all.

OneFourSeven said...

Oh man, it would make sense. They'd make sure to keep their stake claimed in new and emerging computing.

Let's be honest, Microsoft won the home computer war, hands down. But the new war on software and mobile platforms is shaking things up! This is the kind of climate that things change in. Microsoft has to do /something/ radical.

Anonymous said...

Grr! Hope they don't, they own to much already!

Czikita said...

what for ?
adobe is shit now.
html 5 is it!

Anonymous said...

well i think so but i hope adobe won't do it!

Gorlotch said...

I have my doubts they will buy them.

frankie, my cat. said...

Adobe make quality programs so why shouldn't they buy it if they have the chance? I don't think they will stop mac-support anyways.

Willow said...

I doubt it will change how CS is offered on the Mac. Adobe and Apple have had great relations for years, (cept the whole flash ordeal for the iPhone iPad, and iPod touch)

Anonymous said...

I hope not. Microsoft generally sucks at most things they do. It takes them two tries to get anything right (see Windows Vista v. 7)

Pietje said...

Microsoft does anything to kill mac :)

lovebloggin said...

i dont think theyll cut mac completely out, microsoft is smarter than that

Bart said...

i think i drank too much last nite

Crammarc said...

why not they can and they will

richie said...

microsoft should sell CS5 TWICE as expensive on Macintosh (blaming it on "compatibility issues" and "the exclusivity of macintosh meaning that it's a different market with different demands")
and CS5 half as expensive on Windows 7, making the same amount of total profit, but also hitting their competitor in the balls.

Soon there's going to only be about 5 corporations in the world: Microsoft, Google, Apple, some Dubai super conglom-corp, and China. They'll own everything.

this could be interesting!

i thought f*cking apple going to buy it.
Nevertheless i hope they dont try to establish a monopole on adobe's tools

miecak said...

Aren't there any alternatives to Adobe for Macs ?

One way or another, photoshop will always be expensive ._.

I'm not sure about if this is good or bad.,

Oh goddamn noes, I hope Windows is kidding.

Tresni said...

hmm honestly I don't think Microsoft will cut out the Mac market, at least not straight away however it may be a very useful tool to increase Windows usage in the editing market

Mamin odabir said...

Good question.. But no, I don't think so really..

Campino said...

might happen

Classically Trained Nub said...

Not if google buys it first. Those guys are buying everything.

TravisTouchdown said...

i think it would be a huge gain for microsoft, but adobe shouldnt do it because it removes their brand independance

comradejoker.blogspot.com/ said...

It seems like they would, but I don't think they will go through with it.

Mr.Brightside said...

nooo. btw, i liked macromedia!

JRam said...

This actually makes sense since Microsoft is not doing very well at all these days. Xbox, Microsoft office, and operating systems are basically their only businesses left when internet explorer dies.

nick said...

i certainly think so

Secret Guide to Shaving said...

I hope not. I enjoy Adobe and it actually working like its supposed to.

Austin Da Silveira said...

I feel like this would be huge for both companies

gnjili shepard said...

god i hope not.

Seb said...

MS has been helping apple by filling their holes for ages now. MS office, bootcamp, hell even internet explorer. MS should just drop support for MS office and bootcamp, buy adobe, make the next CS windows-exclusive and let apple fend for itself.

Oxygen for Everyone! said...

they'd never stop releasing on apple, they know it's a huuuuuge revenue stream. look at ms word, powerpoint, etc on mac.

Archivist X0042 said...

they would be foolish to give mac that program.

if they didnt, it would lead to PC dominating once again.

pixel said...

still pissed cs5 wont work on my older powerpc mac

Unknown said...

I suggest they buy it so people will stop buying macs for having the "greater" software.
