Drobo vs. ReadyNAS
For those looking for a home networked backup/storage system, the 2 products that immediately come up are Drobo and ReadyNAS. Both support RAID type technology and feature hot-swapping hard drives in case of failure.
Does anyone have experience with any of these products? What's a good recommendation for home networked storage?

i look forward to your updates
I prefer drobo, good post!
That bottom one looks pretty good.
I don't know anything about either first hand, but I know someone who's gone through..three? drobos, and wishes he could get his money back. But that's the only case I know of.
aw normal ones don't work on macs?
no experience in both but i saw something similar at tiger direct i forget the name but it was white and pink and it was like your own personal cloud server that was kinda cool. would love to hear from ppl with experience with this because i want to set up my own server
*hug*
whoa! those looks nice! but network storage system are pricey.
I like my Solaris fileserver. It may not be as easy to set up and use as a Drobo, but ZFS > *.
I use freeNAS and it works pretty great
what exactly are these o.O i'm not very tech savvy. maybe you could give more details
the problem i have with all of these is they occupy your hard drive when you're trying to work...
what crunky said.
never used them =(
The best thing you can do is get an simple board that supports RAID, put it in a case, throw HDDs in it, drop it on a network.
Much cheaper than that NAS and Drobo.
I like the deign of the readyNAS, don't have any experience with either, but I'm curious to see what other users say about them
Mike
Lifehack's guide to a better BJ is out now!
might pick one of these up someday
beautiful machines. maybe one day.....
drobo looks better.
Interesting...I might look into these in the near future. But at the moment they're not any use for backups for me.
Cool Story Bro!;)
Those drobo's are nasty ive heard

Don't know anything about that dude. Sorry !
No experience with either, but I hear good things about Drobo
I would take ReadyNAS cuz it looked better (i'm a MAC user :D)
need one myself so this is relevant.
never really used this before... but they do look useful

Haven't used either before, but from looking around online they seem pretty similar
One of these days I need to justify myself getting one of these. I've lost too many HD's in my life.
I need one of these :)! just sick of keeping my music/Films/Backups on my PC HDD :(
Same as above.
prefer dobo.
whatever that is.
Been doing some research into it but have not really come out with anything worth sharing. Looking forward to reading someone else's opinion on the matter though.
I'm also interested in learning about these devices.

sry, have no experience with this :/
too much porn
Whats the price difference on these?
My uncle had a drobo he hated it
I'll go with the bottom one.

Both of those are absolutely gorgeous!
I'll have to do a bit of investigating to see what's available, though, where I am.
